Business Model Outline

Colorsilk Enterprises sources their silk from a community of local farmers, which is then processed and manufactured by local women weavers into silk-based products. These include cases, garments, and other silk-based consumer products.

Sales Strategy (current and future)

Previously we only depended on the sales of white-labelled goods. With this new funding we plan to begin a small line of end products. These designs will be supplied by partner designers.

Supply Chain Strategy (current and future)

Colorsilk has a network of weavers which includes those who work on-site and from their homes (via home-based enterprises). These women are provided with training and loans if necessary to operate and own a weaving loom in their homes.

Social Impact

What is the most important social impact KPI you track?

Number of women trained and fairly paid

Based on this KPI, what has been your impact to-date?

  • We have provided training and employment to 450 women weavers
  • They earn an average of $200 a month, 80% higher than the average pay of a factory worker
