CHIE CRAFTS AND DESIGN

Picture
CHIE
Chie's vision would be to give a hand to restoring the brocade weaving occupation to maintain the unique traditions and cultures of the Northwestern minorities. They are a fair trade business specialising in providing handicraft items that are self-designed and handmade from ethnic brocades. Their products represent a piece of the ethnic minority groups cultures.

Explore their products in their Facebook store at:  https://www.facebook.com/chie.craft.and.design/

The Story

Picture
Chie was founded in 2011 by Truong Thi Thu Thuy and have been working with women weavers in the mountainous areas of Vietnam since then. With Chie, the artisans  have a chance to grow or increase production as they wish.

As a social enterprise, portion of their profits is used to create projects and programs to support indigenous people. Chie strives to develop sustainable livelihoods based on preserving and promoting indigenous cultures. In addition, it has also built a Northwest cultural sharing space in Hanoi in order to unite different cultures.

The Impact

Chie works with artisans on contract. They either send customer orders for artisans to directly fulfil or buy their products to sell under the Chie name. Products are sold through their store or Facebook.

Along with their beautiful artisanal products, Chie seeks to

1. Provide previously unavailable market access to ethnic
     women in mountainous region,
2. Revive a dying heritage and
3. Provide a livelihood and financial empowerment to women
