For the 3rd Anniversary of Angels of Impact, we published The Funding Needs of Women Led SMEs Tackling Poverty in Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand, a tool provided to showcase that there is a deal flow of women led SMEs who given the right resources can be a more effective tool to achieving UN SDG 1 and 5. The report interviewed 43 women lead small and medium enterprises (SME) who are business leaders in their enterprise, all of whom illustrate social impact in their country. Their business leadership and experience is given voice in this report, helping people around the world understand where their investment can have the greatest impact and hoping we can move more social capital in their direction.
An additional 5 women SME leaders were interviewed to provide gender integration case studies. The Angels of Impact team explored current and desired levels and types of funding. What It highlights are the unique constraints that hold back these “missing middle” social enterprises from accessing funds.
The Angels of Impact team also looked into capacity gaps within the enterprises. These gaps need to be met in order for them to become “funding-ready.” Understanding these gaps and working to close the gaps will clear the path for SME potential investors.
The community is invited to download and use the report to each help their impact investment activities and we hope it helps move some social capital to women led SMEs tackling UNSDG 1 and 5.
