Community of Learning and Support
Our founder, Laina Greene was inspired by the Baha'i writings on the importance of the eradication of poverty and the key role gender equality plays in a better world, and also by the book by Prof Yunus "Creating a World Without Poverty" calling for us all to do our part to end poverty. She was able to bring together a group of conscious investors and a great team to start a movement with a Massive Transformative purpose (MTP) of Creating a World Without Poverty in Unity with Women. This group understood that the purposeful inclusion of women and indigenous communities is the key to ending poverty and to creating a more just and sustainable world. We continue to grow our community of regenerative entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and investors who share our beliefs in poverty alleviation and a regenerative world. We also aim to apply Restorative Economics principles into our investing approach as elaborated by Nwamaka Agbo and Alfa Demmellash.
Angels of Impact is based in Singapore, US and New Zealand and continues to offer funding and capacity building to women and indigenous led community based enterprises tackling UN SDG #1No Poverty, #5 Gender Equality and #12 Responsible Production and Consumption. The ASEAN Women Impacting Social Entrepreneurship (WISE) is our new flagship capacity building effort and we run an Evergreen Fund that has helped fund several women led community based enterprises (we have had 100% repayment back into this Fund).
We support "missing middle" women and indigenous-led community based enterprises with integrated capital, accompanied with capacity building and/or have doors opened for market access, so as to create a more lasting impact in their communities. These community-based enterprises in turn offer investors, customers and mentors the opportunity to learn what's involved on the ground and how to build a more equitable and regenerative world for all.
No this is not about micro-finance. We support endeavors that are too small for impact investors and too large for micro-finance (what the Monitor Group report from Blueprint to Scale calls the *"pioneer gap"). We call these women and indigenous led community based enterprises "weavers" as they solve systemic social issues and help weave a resilient fabric of society together.

They face more challenges than men in raising capital, and yet they reinvest up to 90% of their income to improve the living standards of their communities. They also are known to produce more revenue with less capital. We focus on women and indigenous led regenerative enterprises to maximize the social impact of your dollar. We believe it is time to see these communities as the key solution to end poverty and bring sustainability, to see them as good investments and graduate them beyond micro-finance.

As of March 2020, it was mutually agreed that co-founders Patricia Lim and Audrey Tan, who led the UNICEF project will no longer be involved with Angels of Impact and will leave to operate the UNICEF funded blockchain platform under a separate tech company, not affiliated with Angels of Impact.
